FCC Ámbito participates in a technical seminar on WEEE organized by the Regional Government of Castile and León.
FCC Ámbito participated in a course in Valladolid—organized by the Regional Government of Castile and León for its technical staff—focused on the management of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and batteries.
The event, held on April 16 at the PRAE (Educational Environmental Proposals) building, addressed various innovative aspects regarding the management of this type of waste. It was attended by managers and technical staff from the Waste and Contaminated Soils Service of the Directorate General for Environmental Quality and Sustainability, part of the Regional Ministry of Development and Environment.
On behalf of FCC Ámbito, Carlos Mallén, Managing Director of the Glass Recycling division, presented the new facility recently launched for photovoltaic panel treatment to the Regional Government’s technical team.
Located in Cadrete, Zaragoza, this is the first industrial photovoltaic panel recycling facility to begin operations in Spain, thereby offering the photovoltaic sector a recycling solution for its panels—whether they have reached the end of their service life or have become waste for various reasons during the installation or operation of solar farms.
This facility also aligns with FCC Medio Ambiente’s 2050 Sustainability Strategy—a 30-year business development roadmap structured around four key pillars: environmental, social, excellence, and good governance. By managing the ever-increasing volume of WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment), FCC Ámbito aims to strengthen the environmental pillar by fostering the circular economy, with the goal of meeting the European Union’s waste recovery targets for 2035.
